Coparenting schedule fell apart after my ex moved to Austin

We had a solid every other weekend plan for 2 years, then last month my ex announced she's relocating to Austin, Texas for a job paying $85k. Now I'm looking at 1800 miles between us and the kids have to fly alone, which scares me since my daughter is only 8. Has anyone here dealt with a long distance coparenting agreement that actually worked? How did you handle the travel costs and holiday splits?
