DAE end up at a random Walmart parking lot crying over a broken bird feeder after the divorce papers were signed?
I drove two towns over to get away from the house and ended up bawling my eyes out next to a dumpster because I saw a family of sparrows fighting over crumbs and it reminded me of how my ex never let me put up a feeder in the backyard, so has anyone else found themselves ugly crying in the weirdest places post-split?

The bird feeder wasn't the point, it was the permission she never gave you.

Charles didn't get it wrong about the birdfeeders in the back of the hardware store parking lot last Tuesday, I was staring at a bag of sunflower seeds I grabbed by accident and just lost it. My ex was the same way, never let me hang anything up in the yard, said it would attract rats or something dumb like that. I ended up sitting on the curb next to this old lady's minivan for like twenty minutes just sobbing over a bag of seeds and some cheap plastic feeder I was gonna buy on impulse. It's crazy how those small things they said no to can hit you harder than the big fights sometimes.

Gotta push back a little here because I actually see it differently lol. The bird feeder WAS the point in a way, not because of the permission thing but because sometimes those little things we deny ourselves actually mean way more than we let on. Like yeah your ex said no to feeders, but you could have bought one anyway and put it up at your own place later. Sitting on the curb crying over it sounds less like her stopping you and more like you finally letting yourself feel how badly you wanted something simple and good for yourself. The old lady in the minivan probably knew exactly what was up too, those random strangers get it better than we think.
