our old grocery store" - was that the hardest spot?

Yeah, "our old grocery store" is such a perfect example. It's never the big places that get you, it's the totally normal spots you shared. You build a whole quiet map of a person with gas stations and diners and then you have to figure out how to use that map when they're gone. It's like emotional clutter you have to clean up one dumb parking lot at a time.

See, I actually hate that parking lot. That's where she told me she was moving, right by the damn dumpster. To me, the hardest spot was the weird little diner on 3rd street where we had our first real fight. The place was a total dump, pancakes were like rubber, but that's the one that stops me cold every time I drive by. So I guess I don't see it as "emotional clutter" so much as a map I just can't fold up right. Isn't the whole point that some spots just hit harder than others?
