Just found out most people feel better after a year, not right away
I was reading a book from the library called 'Starting Over' and it said a study found 70% of people report their mood improves a full year after the papers are signed. I thought I was behind because I still feel pretty rough at six months. Did anyone else find that first year was the hardest part?

Wait, a full year? That's a long time... I guess I just figured after six months you'd be turning a corner. The book really says most people don't feel better until then? That's kind of a relief but also a lot to get through.

Hold up, they said a FULL year? I read that too and my jaw dropped. I was barely making it week to week and they're telling me to wait twelve months for a real change? That feels like forever when you're in it. Guess we just have to take it one day at a time, huh?

Honestly that "full year" thing sounds like a made up number to me... like they just picked a round figure. I felt way better after about eight months, not twelve. Maybe the book is just trying to make people feel less rushed. @young.thomas, if you're expecting a corner at six months, you might actually hit it sooner than you think. Putting a strict timeline on healing seems like the wrong way to go about it.
