Mediation vs. lawyers going head to head was night and day for me

I tried lawyer-led negotiations for 4 months and got nowhere fast, then switched to a mediator who had us done in 3 sessions. Has anyone else found mediation way smoother than the traditional route?

100% agree with both of you. My lawyer kept sending these long angry letters back and forth which just made my ex dig in harder and slowed everything down. The mediator didn't care about who was "right" or "wrong", she just kept asking what each of us actually needed to move forward. It was like a whole different language compared to the courtroom battle my lawyer was trying to set up. We split everything 60/40 in a way that felt fair instead of one of us feeling like we got destroyed in a fight. That mediator saved us thousands in legal fees just from the first session alone.

Oh I mean mediation was a total game changer for me too. Lawyers just wanted to fight and bill hours, the mediator actually made us talk like humans. It's wild how much faster things move when someone's not trying to score points or drag it out. Idk why more people don't try it first honestly.

Man mediation sounds fine and all but is it really that serious unless you got kids or a house involved
