Spent $600 on a 'divorce coach' and all I got was a binder full of breathing exercises
Look, I was a mess after my wife told me she wanted out. Had a friend who swore by this life coach type person who supposedly specialized in divorce. First session she had me do some breathing thing and write down my feelings. Four sessions later, she basically just told me to "accept the process" and gave me a worksheet on anger management. $600 for stuff I could have found on YouTube for free. She didn't even know the basics about how property division works in our state. If you're going to pay someone, get a real therapist or a lawyer, not some middle ground person with a certification from a weekend course. Anyone else get burned by one of these "coaches"?

600 bucks for breathing exercises? That's rough, but honestly maybe the whole thing isn't as serious as you're making it out to be. Divorce is a process, sure, but people act like they need a whole guidebook for it. You've got a brain, you can figure out the property stuff on your own or just ask a real lawyer for a quick consult. These coaches are usually just selling a fancy version of common sense that anyone with a few close friends could give you for free. Sounds like you expected a magic fix for a messy situation, and that's not how life works. Probably a good lesson to keep your wallet closed next time someone says they specialize in emotional shortcuts.

Yeah Emma, sometimes people just need a little understanding more than anything else.
