That $500 divorce coach I hired was basically just a cheerleader
I paid a woman named Rachel from Austin $500 for a 6 session divorce coaching package. All she did was tell me I was strong and give me worksheets I could have printed off Pinterest. She had zero legal knowledge and couldn't even recommend a good lawyer in my county. Has anyone else tried these coaches and felt like it was a complete waste of cash?

Did you try talking to a therapist instead? I went through a divorce last year and almost fell for one of those coach packages too. What actually helped me was finding a counselor who specialized in life transitions, not divorce specifically. She didn't just cheerlead me, she gave me real tools for managing the stress and making decisions without panic. I also joined a free support group at my local community center once a week for a few months. That group was way more useful than any paid thing could have been because everyone there was in the same boat. The worksheets and pep talks just made me feel like I was paying someone to validate my feelings instead of actually moving forward.

All she did was tell me I was strong" lol that's literally the same thing as hiring a hype man for a gym session but for your emotions. Might be cheaper to just get a friend to send you motivational texts for two weeks.

You're not wrong about the hype man comparison, but I think you're being a little too hard on people who just need that encouragement to start moving forward... sometimes a little cheerleading is what gets you through the door.
