The cashier at Target in Omaha gave me the best divorce advice I ever got

I was buying a solo pack of paper plates and she just looked at me and said, "Took me three tries to realize I was the common denominator." We ended up talking for like 10 minutes while she scanned my stuff. It was the first time someone didn't give me sympathy or pity, just a straight up honest reflection. Has anyone else had a random stranger say something that stuck with you way more than your friends did?

Did she ever figure out what about her was the problem, or is that the part that still haunts her?

Some people never figure that part out, they just move on to the next person and pretend the whole thing never happened.
