Warning: wasted $250 on a divorce coach who just read from a script
I hired this woman in Phoenix who claimed she'd help me navigate custody stuff, but every session was her reading bullet points off a PDF. Called my lawyer instead and got better advice for free. Anyone else get burned by so-called experts in this process?

Hear you but sometimes a coach just helps you see what you already know.

Oh wow, I totally feel you on that one! Sometimes you just need someone else to point out the obvious stuff you've been overlooking because you're too close to the situation. I had a similar thing happen with a friend who literally just said "hey you always say that same worry" and it clicked for me. It's not about them having some magic secret, it's about having a second pair of eyes on your life when you're stuck in your own head. I think that kind of help can be really valuable even if it seems simple on the surface. Glad you found something that works for you!

Yeah same thing happened to me, @smith.elliot I get what you're saying about coaches helping you see things, but not when they're just reading off a script with zero real advice. What actually worked for me was joining a free local single parents meetup group. We swapped lawyer names, talked about what custody forms tripped us up, and honestly that peer advice was way more hands-on than any paid coach I tried. Sometimes real talk from people who've been through it beats paying someone to read a PDF at you.
