Burned out on using a roller for everything, finally caved and got a sprayer for my fence

I spent three weekends painting this 200 foot privacy fence with a roller. After the first Saturday my back was killing me and I still had like 80% left. Borrowed a buddy's Wagner sprayer finally and knocked out the whole thing in 4 hours flat. The finish is way more even too, no brush marks or drips. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize you've been doing something the hard way for no reason?

The roller is basically the home improvement version of doing dishes by hand when you own a dishwasher. We all have that one tool or method we stubbornly cling to because it's what we know, even when the smarter option is sitting right there. I spent years cutting my grass with a push mower because I thought it was more "authentic" until a neighbor let me try their riding mower and I felt like an idiot. Same thing with cooking, I used to chop everything by hand super slow until I finally bought a food processor. The sad truth is we get comfortable being inefficient and call it "the right way" to avoid admitting we could have saved ourselves a bunch of pain. You're not alone in that fence struggle, just part of a club that learns the hard way.

Guess I'll just keep painting fences with a toothbrush instead of buying a roller.

Yeah man, thinning the paint right makes all the difference too.
