Hot take: power washing a deck vs. staining it first is a debate that cost me a whole weekend
Spent last Friday power washing my deck in Portland until the wood looked brand new, then my neighbor said I stripped all the natural protection out and should have stained it right away. The other side says let it dry for a week first. Which camp are you in after your own Reno jobs?

Man, I feel that weather gamble so hard. Portland's humidity is a real wild card though, so I'd say if you can smell the dampness in the wood, just wait the week. Better to have a boring Saturday watching paint dry than re-doing your whole deck in August.

Nah, you gotta let that wood breathe for at least a few days. Staining wet wood is just asking for peeling and bubbles down the road, trust me.

Three days minimum in my garage and I still got bubbles last spring, so yeah, wet wood is basically a betrayal waiting to happen.
