I finally gave in and bought a laser level after years of using a spirit level

For like 5 years I was dead set against laser levels. Thought they were fancy toys for rich contractors. Then last month I had to hang 12 picture frames in a row at my sister's place in Phoenix and my old bubble level had me redoing every other one. Borrowed her husband's cheap $40 Bosch and got all 12 done in 20 minutes flat. Now I'm wondering what else I've been stubborn about for no good reason. Any other tools you swore off for years that turned out to be worth it?

...and then I went deep on the whole "I'll never use a cordless ratchet" thing. I was a die hard breaker bar guy for years. Thought batteries were for drills and flashlights. Then my buddy's snap-on cordless ratchet got me out from under a stuck truck seat bolt in like 45 seconds flat. Now I own two of them and I feel like an idiot every time I grab one. It's the same with those little magnetic parts trays. Spent 20 years chasing screws across the floor. One $6 magnetic tray and my whole world changed. Makes you wonder what else we're just doing the hard way for no reason.

Oh man, I was totally the same way with the cordless ratchet thing. I used to swear by my old school hand tools, thought batteries just meant something else to charge and break on you. Then my brother let me borrow his Milwaukee cordless ratchet to pull the starter on my old Ford, and I was done for. Felt like I'd been moving furniture by myself for years and someone finally handed me a dolly. The magnetic tray thing too... I always just tried to remember where I set screws down, like that ever worked out for me. Its funny how stubborn we get about stuff that really does make life easier once you just try it.

Man that's a good point, what else are we all just making harder on ourselves without even realizing it?
