That pressure washer rental at Lowe's turned into a 4 hour nightmare

Rented a 2500 PSI unit from the Lowe's on Thompson Lane last saturday to clean my driveway, but the wand kept kicking back like a mule every time I hit a crack. After 30 minutes my wrist was screaming and the concrete still looked like a dirty mess, so I called the guy at the counter and he said I was holding it wrong. Is there a trick to keeping the trigger steady, or am I better off just paying someone $150 to do this next time?

The Thompson Lane store is notorious for renting out beat up equipment, that's your first problem. I've had that exact unit and the trigger assembly was worn out, so it would slam shut every time the pump hit a rough spot. The trick is to keep the wand at a lower angle and brace the hose with your off hand, but honestly that doesn't fix a bad trigger. Get yourself a $30 trigger gun from Tractor Supply and swap it out before you even start next time, it takes five minutes and makes a world of difference. That said, for a small driveway I'd still rent again but ask to test the trigger in the parking lot first before they hand it over. Otherwise yeah, paying someone $150 sucks but it beats four hours of fighting a machine that's out to get you. Have you tried telling them it was faulty and asking for a refund on the rental fee?
