I spent 6 hours trying to fix a leaky faucet that took 20 minutes.

I had a dripping kitchen faucet for weeks. I finally got around to fixing it last Saturday. Turns out the problem was a worn out o-ring inside the handle. After watching three different videos and making two trips to the hardware store for the wrong sized parts, I realized I just needed to replace a $2 rubber ring. Has anyone else spent way too long on a simple fix like this?

Three trips to the hardware store and a full afternoon of cussing later, I fixed my toilet with a $5 flapper... then noticed I put the lid on backwards.

Man @fionam11 that backwards lid move is exactly the kind of thing I'd do after a long day of sweating and swearing. At least the toilet flushes right, right?

Oh man @fionam11 this reminds me of something my buddy Dave did. He was all proud he fixed his leaky kitchen faucet after like four YouTube videos and a trip to the hardware store for a special tool. Then he realized he'd installed the whole thing upside down, so the hot and cold handles were swapped. But instead of fixing it, he just told his wife to remember the handles were backwards. She wasn't thrilled about it, especially when guests would get scalded. He finally swapped them around a whole year later but only because they were selling the house.
