Just finished painting my living room and counted 17 different paint samples on the wall before picking one

I never thought I'd need that many to find the right shade of gray. How many swatches do you usually go through before you commit?

Seventeen? That’s insane. I’d lose my mind.

Read somewhere it's a mix of black and white hairs.

@charles836 actually it's the mixture that makes it look gray so you'd end up with way more than seventeen shades in practice.
