My bathroom sink drain leaked for 3 weeks before I fixed it
I noticed a small puddle under the cabinet in my bathroom back in February. Figured it was just condensation at first, but it kept getting bigger. After checking the P-trap I saw the slip nut was loose, so I tightened it with my hand but it still dripped. Finally grabbed some plumber's tape and wrapped the threads, tightened it again with a wrench, and no leaks since. Has anyone else had a slip nut fail like that after years of being fine?

Wait, three weeks for a loose slip nut? You couldn't just tighten it with a wrench from the start? I get being lazy but that's a lot of wasted water and potential damage for something so simple to fix.

Three weeks is honestly just my default procrastination window for anything involving plumbing. The amount of times I've let a minor leak turn into a minor flood is honestly kind of impressive.

Gotta be honest, three weeks sounds like an overreaction. A little water under the sink isn't gonna bring your house down.
