My kitchen went from a dark cave to feeling twice as big just by painting the upper cabinets white and adding under-cabinet LED strips.

I mean, the whole project only cost about $150 for the paint and lights, but the difference after a single weekend is honestly wild, so has anyone else had a simple change make a room feel completely new?

My buddy spent a whole weekend painting his cabinets white and by Sunday night he was already wiping grease off them. I told him welcome to the club, buddy. @emma96 you nailed it, those white cabinets show every single crumb like it's a crime scene. I've got a theory that white kitchens were invented by the cleaning product companies just to sell more degreaser. The light grey idea your friend went with sounds smart though, I bet it still brightens things up without making you want to cry every time you fry an egg.

My old apartment had white cabinets and they just showed every single grease stain and crumb.

What color did you go with in the new place? Still white or did you switch it up? That grease film around the stove area is the absolute worst.

Ugh, tell me about it. I saw a whole thing online about how white kitchens are a nightmare to keep clean, especially near the stove. It looks great in pictures but living with it is a different story. My friend just painted her cabinets a light gray for this exact reason. She says it hides like 90% of the mess that would scream at you on white.
