Rant: My kitchen floor tile job went sideways at the big box store

I was at the home center in Springfield last Tuesday, picking out tile for a small kitchen redo. The guy in the flooring section swore up and down I only needed two boxes of the stuff I liked. Got it home, laid it out, and came up short by about 30 square feet. Had to drive all the way back, and of course, they were out of that lot number. Now I've got a weird patch of slightly different colored tile in the corner. Why don't they just tell you to buy an extra box for cuts and mistakes?

Honestly... is it that big of a deal? It's just a floor. So one corner looks a little off. Most people won't even notice once you get a rug or the furniture back in. Those store guys are just trying to save you money on extra boxes you might not need. Maybe just live with it for now.

Have you ever tried to unsee something once you notice it? That corner will bug you every single day, and you paid good money for this. Why settle when you could just get it done right?

Reminds me of when my buddy had a tiny chip in his new countertop. He tried to ignore it like @holly709 said, but it just made him nuts every time he wiped the surface. Ended up calling them back out six months later because it was all he could see. Sometimes a small fix now saves a bigger headache later.
