That farmhouse table plan from Pinterest took me 3 times longer than it said

Ngl I spent 18 hours on just the breadboard ends because the wood movement math was way off from the original guide. Has anyone else run into plans that completely ignore seasonal expansion?

That breadboard end math is a killer. I started ripping the boards a full inch longer than the plans say and then just trimming them down to fit after they've sat in the shop for a week. Also switched to using a sliding dovetail tenon instead of a fixed one. Lets the wood breathe way better without splitting. Learned that the hard way after my first table cracked right down the middle during winter. Never trust a plan that doesn't mention wood movement.

Bro that's brutal! I wasted a whole weekend on a "simple" bookshelf build once because the plans didn't account for the plywood being a hair thinner than standard. Feels like half these online guides are written by people who've never actually picked up a saw.

The good plans are written by people who messed up enough to learn what matters.
