I finally noticed who gets the corner table at the diner

At the 24-hour diner off Route 1 in my town, I watched the regular cop get the small corner booth every morning without asking, while a delivery driver got told to move twice in one week for sitting there. Same rules about saving tables, but nobody ever says anything when a badge is involved. Has anyone else seen this in their local spots or is it just my town?

Funny how unspoken rules always bend for whoever holds the most weight in the room. Across every diner, barbershop, or gas station line, people just sort of know who gets the easy pass without anyone saying a word. It's rarely about fairness, more about which familiar face carries the quiet authority to make an argument not worth starting.

My barber's been cutting hair for 30 years and he still waits his turn like everyone else, but I've watched a guy walk in and get bumped to the front just because he owns the building next door. Nobody even blinked, that's the weird part.
