I used to mock people who bought organic produce at Whole Foods

Thought it was just a waste of money for the same stuff you get at Kroger for half the price. Then I actually read the USDA pesticide reports for strawberries and spinach, and the difference was wild. Some conventional samples had like 15 different residues, while organic had almost none. I still don't buy everything organic, but I'm way less judgy now. Has anyone else done a 180 on something they used to roll their eyes at?

And I've heard that even after washing, some of those pesticides stick around because they soak into the plant. The strawberry data is what finally got me to switch over to organic for the dirty dozen items. Now I just save the conventional stuff for things with thick skins like avocados and bananas.

The strawberry thing got me too. I used to think the Dirty Dozen list was just fear mongering, but the data on how many different pesticides they find on a single conventional strawberry is legit alarming. Did you end up changing anything about how you shop for the rest of the Dirty Dozen, or do you just prioritize certain items now?
