My landlord charged me $150 for 'deep cleaning' but left the oven filthy

Found the receipt for the cleaning fee in my lease file last week. They charged me but I took photos of the caked-on grease. Has anyone else fought back on move-out fees with hard proof?

I mean I get what you're saying about the hassle, my friend actually went through this exact thing. She sent the landlord a certified letter with her photos of the burnt-on grease and a copy of the receipt, and also pointed out that in our state they can't charge for normal wear and tear. The landlord caved after she threatened to take it to the small claims court, she got a full refund like three weeks later.

Is it really worth the hassle over $150 though? Feels like one of those things that sounds like a big deal until you actually try to take them to court.
