My new detail view shortcut saved me from 47 clicks on one drawing
I was working on a big set of foundation plans for a school project, and kept having to zoom in and out to check rebar spacing. I made a quick macro in my CAD software that jumps to a preset scale and layer set with one button. Has anyone else found a good way to cut down on simple, boring clicks?

Honestly I'd rather write a whole macro than click that many times.

Preset scale and layer set" is the real game changer. I set up something similar for checking door schedules against floor plans. Mine toggles between a wide view for the schedule and a tight crop on the door tag, saves my sanity on big multi-family jobs.

That trick of making a preset for a boring task is everywhere once you start looking. It's like setting a coffee maker the night before so you don't have to think in the morning. People do it with browser bookmarks for daily reports or even pre-typing common email replies. The small effort to set up a system pays off huge when you're tired or rushed. It's all about building guardrails for your future, less-focused self. Your door schedule example is just a specific, brilliant case of that.

47 clicks for one drawing? That's absolutely bonkers. I would have lost my mind by click number 15 and started throwing my mouse across the desk. You must have the patience of a saint to even count them let alone do something about it. The fact that you actually made a macro to fix it is genius but I'm still stuck on that number. How does a single drawing need that many zoom ins and outs?
