Serious question, I was drafting a foundation plan for a garage addition in Toledo and tried using the offset tool for all the footings instead of drawing each line individually.

The offset method cut my initial layout time from about 45 minutes down to maybe 15, and the dimensions stayed perfectly consistent, so has anyone else found a basic command that saves way more time than it should?

Offset is a total game changer for that kind of repetitive work. Honestly, the copy command with a set distance for foundation walls is another one that feels like cheating. You just pick your inside line, tell it how far to go, and bam, perfect outside line every time. Saves so much brain power on simple math.

Right? Using offset feels like finding a cheat code you're almost embarrassed to admit you use. I mean, I used to do all that math by hand and mess it up half the time anyway. Maybe it's just me but getting the outside line perfect on the first try still feels like a tiny miracle.

You lose the feel for the real dimensions though.

Yeah but @seanmason, some of us WANT to feel like we're still earning our stripes instead of just clicking a button and calling it a day. Cheat codes are fun until you actually have to explain your math to the boss.
