Showerthought: The old way of drawing details by hand vs. just copying blocks in CAD
Back in 2008 I worked at a small shop near Pittsburgh, and we drew every single detail line by hand on the board. Took me 2 hours just to do a simple bracket. Now I just grab a block from the library and tweak the dimensions. I know it's faster, but sometimes I wonder if I'm missing something by not drawing it from scratch. Anyone else feel like they've lost a bit of the craft?

Honestly, I went through the same thing when I switched to CAD. Used to spend forever on manual layouts, but now I just grab a block and move on. Ngl, I don't really miss the old way though, it's just way more efficient this way.

Started tweaking my own block library and it cut my drafting time in half.

Totally, once you build that library it's hard to go back. Makes everything so much faster.

Ruby659 said it's just more efficient. That's exactly how I see it - I'd rather spend time on the important stuff than redrawing the same bracket for the 50th time.
