That fancy drafting stool I bought was a total waste of cash

I dropped $150 on this ergonomic stool with all the adjustments after reading reviews online, thinking it would save my back during 8-hour shifts at my desk in Denver. After three weeks of use, my lower back hurt worse than before because the seat cushion flattened out and the gas lift started wobbling. Has anyone found a stool that actually holds up for long days of tracing and detailing?

Have you looked at local used office furniture shops in Denver? I've found older steelcase and herman miller stools for half that price that still have solid gas lifts and dense foam. Your back might prefer a stool that's built for factory workers rather than the latest trendy ergonomic brand.

But @troyknight, wouldnt a beat-up stool from a factory cause more back pain over time?

Maybe it's just me but doesn't "built for factory workers" usually mean they prioritize durability over actual lumbar support? What kind of back problems have you seen from people using those stools long term?
