TIL my old way of setting up a drawing template was costing me hours.

I was working on a set of foundation plans for a house in Tacoma and realized I'd been manually adding the same title block and layers to every new file. A guy at the supply shop saw me doing it and just said, 'You know you can make a template file, right?' How many of you actually use a proper template, and what do you have set up in yours?

Manually adding the same title block" is the story of my life. I probably wasted a whole year doing things the hard way before I set up a template. Now mine has all my standard layers, dim styles, and a basic title block. It saves a stupid amount of time.

Forget the basic title block, you need dynamic fields that auto-fill project info.

Yeah the "wasted a whole year" part hits home. I did the same thing with my border. Setting up that template file was a total game changer.

Ugh the wasted time is real. Setting up a template is one of those things you wish you did day one. Totally feel your pain on that one.
