Warning: cheap digital angle finder almost cost me a whole panel job

I spent $30 on one of those no-name digital angle finders off Amazon and it was off by 2 degrees on a 45 for a mitered corner. That corner cost me $250 in waste and a re-cut on a job last month. Anyone else had a tool lie to you at the worst possible time?

Did you check it out of the box or just trust it? I grabbed a cheap digital level from a hardware store once, got home and it said my kitchen counter was sloped 3 degrees when it was dead flat. Threw it in the trash and bought a real one.

3 degrees off a flat counter? That thing was more of a conspiracy theory than a level. I once bought a digital caliper from a random brand and it measured my phone as 4 inches thick. Now I just stick with the old bubble levels from the hardware store, at least they're honest about their lies.

Yeah, three degrees off is way more than just a little off.
