Delaying our start due to murky water added a full month to the job. Team split on if it was smart.
We had a big channel clearing project last spring. Some guys on my team wanted to start digging even with poor visibility. They said missing the contract finish date would hurt our rep and wallet. But I and others pushed to wait until we could see clearly. We ended up waiting a month, which messed up our next job. Now I'm wondering if the delay was the right move or if we should have risked it. What do you all think?

See this pattern everywhere, like when people ignore warning signs to save time. My mate skipped checking his car's oil, engine seized up on the motorway lmao. Waiting for clear water was smart, even if it cost a month. Avoiding a big mistake beats a tight schedule any day.

Man that's a tough call, but how much would it have cost if you hit something you couldn't see? I totally get the pressure to meet a date, but man, a safety risk is a REAL safety risk. A messed up schedule stinks, but a BIG equipment repair or worse would have sunk you way worse. Your gut to wait was right.

Ugh, tell me about it @shane357. My version is ignoring that weird engine light to get to a meeting, which, surprise, was not a good call.
