Hit 100,000 cubic yards moved last Tuesday without even noticing
I was just checking the daily totals on the dredge screen and saw 100,042 yards. I almost dropped my coffee. That number blew my mind because I started on this crew back in 2019 and we were lucky to hit 30,000 a year with the old gear. The weird part is I didn't even feel the difference between day 50 and day 100. Anyone else track this stuff or just let the numbers pile up?

The first time I hit a milestone like that on a job it was 50,000 yards and I didn't even realize until the boss said something at lunch. I was so focused on keeping the conveyor belt from jamming that I lost track of the big picture. You're right about not feeling the difference between the numbers, because each day just feels like the same grind of mud and machines. It's like when you drive the same route to work for a year and suddenly notice you're 10 miles past your exit because your brain checked out. Some guys keep a little notebook in their truck to mark each 10,000 yards, but I always figured the numbers would pile up if I just kept the gear running. That 100,000 mark is a BIG deal though, especially coming from the old equipment days when we were crawling along.

Hannah, you're out here hauling 100k yards and I can't even remember where I parked after lunch without a notebook. Maybe I need one of those 10k yard tally sheets just for my car keys.

@wendy_lee48 I mean it's just a number on a screen, right? You keep running the gear and it adds up whether you're paying attention or not. Not sure why everyone's acting like hitting some round number is a big deal when the real work is just doing the same thing tomorrow.
