Hot take: I read that some older cutter suction dredges can move over 10,000 cubic yards a day.
I mean, I found that stat in an old equipment manual from the 80s and it just blew my mind. Has anyone here actually run one of those older beasts and seen that kind of output?

That "10,000 cubic yards a day" stat is for ideal conditions, like pumping sand a short distance. In real work with tougher material or a longer pipeline, the actual output was often way lower, maybe half that on a good day. Those old manuals could be pretty optimistic.
