I used to think those fancy silt curtains were a waste of money

We had a job on the Cooper River last year where the specs required a specific brand of turbidity barrier. I thought it was just extra cost for the same old plastic. After a big rain, our old setup would have let a ton of silt through, but this one held tight. The inspector came out and said our turbidity readings were half of what he usually sees. That saved us from a potential fine and a work stoppage. Has anyone else had a tool they thought was overkill turn out to be a lifesaver?

Honestly, I still think a lot of that stuff is overpriced. @phoenix_martin40, sometimes you just get lucky with the weather or the inspector. My crew makes do with what we have and it's always fine.

Exactly. Good gear pays for itself fast.

It's the same with lawn mowers or kitchen knives, people who buy cheap end up replacing them three times. Spend once and cry once, that's just how life works.

Totally, and the time you save with reliable tools is priceless too.
