Need advice on sleep schedule for back-to-back dredge days

Just started a new contract with 10-hour days, and my sleep is all over the place. Waking up tired every morning even after 7 hours in bed. What routines help you guys reset after long shifts? Specifically looking for tips beyond just caffeine.

@the_gray has a point about the dark, but I found that reading a physical book under a dim lamp works better for me. Last week I tried just sitting there and my mind raced through next day's cargo lists. Now I keep a boring paperback on the nightstand, something about tree identification. Puts me out in twenty minutes.

Actually, steady timing beats more hours in bed.

Forget the caffeine. Shut down all screens an hour before bed and just sit in the dark. Lets your brain actually switch off.

Used to believe I just needed more hours in bed too. Watching a show to unwind seemed fine. Then I forced myself to do the same bedtime routine every single night, even on my days off. Shower, dim lights, no phone. It felt pointless for a week, but now my body just knows it's time to shut down. Waking up is less of a fight now even on the fourth day in a row.
