Was skeptical about switching from cutterhead to basket on my last dredge job, 3 weeks in and the sand production is up 12%

Always ran cutterhead for coarse material but the guys at the Old River site said basket would handle the fines better - anyone else made the swap and seen a real difference in output or am I just getting lucky with the current bottom conditions?

Long enough to realize I've got no idea what I'm doing, but not long enough for anyone to notice yet. Usually around the three-month mark is when the real incompetence starts to show itself. Starting to think "figuring things out" might just be my permanent state with this thing. Funny how the manual makes zero sense until you've already broken something and had to learn the hard way.
