A homeowner in Denver told me my taping looked like a 'topographic map'
He pointed out a few ridges I'd missed on a ceiling job last month, said they'd catch the light. I started checking every seam from a low angle with a work light before the second coat. Anyone else have a simple trick for spotting high spots before the mud dries?

Just sand it flat later.

Hold up, is the problem that big? @nancy326 makes it sound easy, but sanding something flat takes real skill and the right tools. You could end up making it worse if you don't know what you're doing.
