A homeowner in Denver told me my taping looked like a 'topographic map'
He pointed out a few ridges I'd missed on a ceiling job last month, said they'd catch the light. I started checking every seam from a low angle with a work light before the second coat. Anyone else have a simple trick for spotting high spots before the mud dries?

Just sand it flat later.

Hold up, is the problem that big? @nancy326 makes it sound easy, but sanding something flat takes real skill and the right tools. You could end up making it worse if you don't know what you're doing.

My dad tried that on a table last year and it took him three weekends to fix the wobble! @young.michael is totally right about needing the right tools.
