Rant: Took me 10 years to stop over-sanding my butt joints
Used to sand everything smooth as glass. A guy on a commercial job in Nashville watched me for 30 seconds and just said 'you're making dust, not mud.' Been feathering instead of sanding for three months now. Who else learned basic stuff way later than they should have?

Heard my buddy Mike talking about how he spent two years sanding every joint to a mirror finish before his uncle finally showed him how to just scrape with a 6 inch knife. Said he felt like an idiot doing a 30 minute sanding session on a joint that took five minutes to tape. Now he's all about that wet sponge technique and his joints look way cleaner.

I mean is it really that big of a deal though? Seems like a lot of fuss over some sandpaper and mud.
