That Wednesday last month when every board I hung split at the corner

I had a day where seven out of ten sheets cracked right at the seam no matter what I did with the screws. Turned out the warehouse in Omaha had stored them leaning against a humid wall for a week. Has anyone else dealt with boards going bad just from bad storage?

Switched to a different screw pattern and it fixed the issue for me.

Funny how that works, isn't it. @mileslane probably found that pattern works when boards are straight, but when they're already stressed from bad storage, even the right screws don't save you. It's like that thing where you buy a bag of chips and half the bag is air - someone cut a corner somewhere and you're the one dealing with the mess. Reminds me of how a lot of problems in life show up because somebody tried to save a buck on the front end, then you're stuck cleaning it up on the back end. Drywall's the same way, one bad batch can wreck your whole week no matter what trick you try next.
