Vent: A client's new build in Asheville had me rethinking my whole approach to taping

I finished a job there about six months ago, and the homeowner just sent me photos. The seams I taped with the standard all-purpose compound looked fine at first, but now they're showing a few faint hairline shadows under their bright LED lights. The ones I did with a lightweight finishing compound, just as an experiment on one wall, are still perfect. Has anyone else switched over to lightweight for the final coats as a standard practice?

Nah, I've never had a problem with all-purpose.

Honestly, I'm the person who somehow manages to mess it up every time. Tbh, I think I just can't follow the simple directions.

Lightweight is the ONLY way to go for the top coats. That all-purpose stuff shrinks way too much, it's a total gamble. Saw the same shadow lines on my own jobs years back and made the switch for good. You get a much smoother finish that actually stays put. Never looked back after that.
