Met a guy at a garage sale who told me why he still plays his original PlayStation every Sunday morning
He said it reminds him of being 12 and trading Pokémon with his best friend before they moved away, and I found myself tearing up over a $20 fat PS1 with a busted lid.

Wait, Pokémon didn't come out until 1996 in Japan, so if he was 12 trading Pokémon on a PS1 that's a whole different console - Game Boy was the one for Pokémon, PlayStation never had those games.

Totally get where you're coming from, I used to think the same thing until I reread the post. It says "trading Pokémon" which could mean trading cards or even talking about the games, not necessarily playing them on the PS1. The PS1 had some great RPGs and that system could definitely bring back memories of being a kid with your best friend, no matter what you were playing. Once I stopped focusing on the exact console, the whole story hit me way harder.

Man, you're reading way too deep into this. It's just a feel-good story about some kid and his buddy, not a historical document. Could be the dude was just saying "Pokemon" as a general term for their gaming sessions, people do that all the time without being precise.
