Overheard some kid at a garage sale call a PS2 'vintage' and it hit me weird

I was flipping through a bin of old games at a garage sale last Saturday and this kid maybe 12 years old asked his mom if they could buy the 'vintage PlayStation.' I realized that console came out 24 years ago, which is older to him than an NES was to me when I was his age. How do you guys deal with the feeling of your childhood systems becoming legit antiques?

My buddy kept calling the original Xbox "retro" and I laughed it off until I did the math. It's been 23 years since that thing launched, which is crazy because I remember saving up lawn mowing money to buy one at launch. That garage sale moment would've hit me the same way, but seeing the numbers actually made me admit these consoles are legit old now.

@quinn161 It's funny how time sneaks up on you like that. I caught a YouTube video breaking down how the Xbox was basically a PC in a box, which explains why those things lasted forever. Makes you feel old when the hardware you saved up for is now considered vintage.

Man it really does sneak up on you. I was at a thrift store last week and saw a whole bin of GameCube games marked as 'vintage collectibles' and I just stood there like, wait, I used to buy these brand new for like ten bucks at Blockbuster. But the weirdest thing is noticing how everything is getting categorized the same way now, like old cell phones are 'retro tech' and even early digital cameras are coming back as vintage. It makes me wonder what's gonna be next, like are we gonna see a thrift shop sell a 2010 iPad mini as a 'classic tablet'? Time just flattens everything eventually, I guess.
