Picked up a PS2 from a thrift store for $15 and after cleaning off 7 years of dust inside it runs like a dream now.
The fan was completely caked with cat hair and grime, so I took it apart, used compressed air and a tiny brush, and now it's whisper quiet, has anyone else found a beat-up console that cleaned up way better than expected?

My last PS2 was so dusty I'm pretty sure it was running like it had emphysema too!

Man I love finding old consoles like that, it's like giving a stray animal a bath and discovering it's actually purebred underneath all that grossness.

@phoenixk64 that stray animal comparison is PERFECT for some of these dusty finds. That fan was basically a cat graveyard mixed with years of angry smoke, absolute NIGHTMARE. Props to you for giving it a second life though, $15 is an absolute STEAL for that kind of satisfaction.
