Talked to a guy at the retro game shop who made me rethink collecting
Was at the Exchange in Pittsburgh last weekend digging through bins and this older guy next to me noticed I was grabbing some PS1 RPGs. He asked what I was doing with them and I said building my collection. He just laughed and said "you know these are meant to be played right? not just stacked on a shelf." Hit me weird because I realized half my collection has been sitting in a closet for 2 years. Now I'm pulling stuff out and actually playing through them. Anyone else get stuck in collecting mode and forget the point?

Hang on though, what was your reason for collecting in the first place? Were you grabbing games you actually wanted to play someday or were you just hunting for rare stuff to have it? I've seen guys with walls of sealed games and it always makes me wonder if they even like video games or if they just like the feeling of owning things lol. Not judging, I'm genuinely curious what switched in your head when that guy said that.

Man I knew a guy who framed his copies of Superman 64 like art pieces.

That hit me pretty hard too when I read it. I had over 200 games in boxes before I realized I hadn't actually turned on a console in months.
