Tried to fix a scratched PS2 disc with toothpaste...

Wasted like 3 hours and $8 on toothpaste rubbing a copy of Shadow of the Colossus I got from a flea market. It just made it worse, and now the disc is totally unreadable. Has anyone actually gotten that trick to work or is it all internet BS?

My buddy tried it on a Madden disc once. Just made it smell minty and broke his console.

Gotta wonder if the toothpaste trick was actually just some viral marketing from back in the day. Like maybe Colgate had a secret deal with game stores to sell MORE toothpaste.
