Cleaned out my old work van and found a receipt from 2004
It was for a 500-foot spool of 12/2 Romex, priced at $48. I just bought the same thing for over $200. I remember thinking that original price was a lot back then. Makes you wonder what a new apprentice's first truck stock list costs now compared to twenty years ago. Anyone else find an old receipt that made you stop and think?

Check the price of copper lately. That's the real story behind that Romex receipt. It just doesn't stop climbing.

My uncle's a plumber and he's been hoarding scrap copper in his garage for years. Says it's a better investment than his 401k at this point. He showed me a pile of old pipes that looks like a weird metal sculpture.
