Found a hidden junction box behind drywall last Thursday
I was roughing in a kitchen remodel near Portland and my hammer drill punched right through some loose drywall. There was a junction box from the 60s completely buried with wire nuts just twisted on. Anyone else run into old work that should've been removed?
Same honestly. I used to figure old boxes were harmless if you weren't messing with them, but now I see it's just a ticking time bomb. Totally not worth the risk.
Right? My grandpa had a box from the 70s in his garage that looked like it survived a war. I poked at it once and the plastic crumbled like a stale cracker. Now I realize I was basically flirting with disaster for no reason. My stupid curiosity almost turned his garage into a bonfire. Some lessons you gotta learn the hard way, I guess.
