Had a 50 year old electrician tell me I was overthinking a dead outlet and it made me look like an idiot in front of the homeowner
He just looked at it for 5 seconds, said it was a backstabbed neutral that wiggled loose, pushed it in and it worked, so now I'm wondering how many hours I've wasted chasing ghosts when I should just check the simplest thing first.
Lol yeah that one time always finds a way to bite you, doesn't it. But honestly the math still works out in favor of just going for it most days. Guess we just gotta accept the occasional faceplant and move on.
Yeah, but "one time" is the key part there. Most of the time it actually is that simple, and you save way more time overall by just jumping in instead of overthinking it. I've messed up plenty by trying to plan every little step, then realized I could've been done already if I just started. The wasted time from overplanning usually adds up to more than the occasional do-over.
