Just finished my first solo 400 amp service upgrade

Two years back, I was still helping my old lead, Mike, on these jobs and my wire pulls were a real mess. Now, after doing a few on my own, I finally got the feeder runs in a house in Cedar Falls to lay flat and neat in the gutter. What's your go-to trick for keeping big parallel conductors from twisting up?

My uncle's a lineman up in Duluth. He told me they use a trick with short pieces of scrap PVC pipe. You cut a slot down the side and snap it over the grouped conductors every few feet before the pull. Acts like a cheap comb to keep the phase order straight and stops that corkscrew twist.

Yeah that's a smart way to reuse scrap, I mean it's basically free.

Reminds me of the old trick with zip ties and a broom handle for pulling wire through a tight attic. Sometimes the simplest hacks are the ones that actually get used on site. You can have all the fancy gear in the truck, but a bit of scrap often saves the day.
