My Klein lineman's pliers snapped clean in half on a Friday afternoon job.

Was pulling a 4/0 feeder through a tight conduit in an old warehouse, gave it a solid twist, and the head just flew off. Happened around 3 PM last week. Had to run to the supply house for a new pair, which set me back $65. Anyone have a brand they trust more for heavy pulls, or was this just a freak thing?

That's a clean break for sure. Seen it happen with older Kleins that got used as a hammer.

Reminds me of a buddy who snapped his lineman's pliers just like that. He was prying on a stubborn box and they gave out at the seam.

Check if the break lines up with a casting seam from the old forge.

Well now, that just goes to show how often we expect tools to do jobs they were never meant for. It's like using a butter knife to open a paint can - it might work for a while, but eventually something's got to give. Funny how we learn these lessons the hard way, especially with tools that are supposed to last us a lifetime.
