Found out most repair shops just toss old capacitors instead of testing them with an ESR meter
I read a breakdown on a supply house blog that said 70% of shops don't bother testing caps before replacing them, they just shotgun everything. Why even own an ESR meter if you're not gonna use it to save time and parts?

ESR meters are great for narrowing down bad caps without pulling the whole board apart. Pulling and replacing every cap on a power supply takes more time than testing the suspect ones first, especially on multilayer boards with glued caps. Shops that just shotgun are wasting labor hours and marking up parts that weren't even bad. If you're gonna do this for a living, learn to use the tools you bought.
