Just saw a tech at my shop use a regular screwdriver on a tiny Phillips head and strip it
He was working on a Nintendo Switch and the screw was basically ruined. I keep a JIS #00 driver for those jobs now, it makes a huge difference. How many of you guys actually use the right driver for Japanese electronics?

Classic case of wrong tool for the job.

My iFixit kit has that JIS bit, and it's saved so many repairs. Honestly, it feels like a cheat code for older Sony stuff. What's the one tool you wish you'd bought years earlier?

That JIS driver tip is solid. I learned the hard way fixing an old Walkman, same deal with stripped screws. Now I just keep the right tools in my kit from the start.

That stripped screw feeling is the worst, especially on something like a Switch where the screws are tiny and fragile. The JIS standard is truly a lifesaver compared to using standard Phillips bits. Totally feel your pain on learning that lesson the hard way with older electronics. It's one of those things you never think about until you wreck something good.
